Take our latest coronavirus business impact survey

Now six months into the coronavirus pandemic, Design Week wants to know how your design business is faring, and how you view the future of your work.

For the last six months, Design Week has been covering the effects of the global coronavirus pandemic on UK designers.

By all accounts, this period has proved to be a major challenge for the industry – 71% of design businesses are worried about surviving into 2021, 16% have lost all trade, and an estimated one million people, mainly self-employed and freelance workers, have “fallen through the gaps” of government support.

Since March, chancellor Rishi Sunak has put in place a number of support packages in an attempt to mitigate the effects of the crisis on the country’s economy, including the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme and the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme.

The consequences of cancelled and postponed contracts, enforced lockdown and sickness are likely to be felt for some time to come, even without a second spike in infections. Now as some of these support schemes prepare to change significantly at the end of next month, we would like to know how you’ve interacted with the support offered by the government.

We’d also like to learn about how you’re working. Lockdown forced many designers out of the studio and back into their homes and while some have since returned as measures have eased, others are contemplating a future where remote working is the norm.

Take our quick survey below and help us gauge how the industry is doing.
